Thursday, July 5th, 2007Centenary Gala
On the 19th of May 15 of our swimmers attended the Centenary Gala at Trowbridge. We were part of the Kennet team and should have had swimmers from 5 clubs. Unfortunately 3 clubs did not produce any swimmers so it was up to Devizes and Marlborough Penguins to produce 24 swimmers of B/C grade standard. As Devizes only came with 5 swimmers we were only able to produce one team with many of our 12-14 swimmers having to swim up into the 15-17 year old age group. Despite these difficulties all our swimmers swam brilliantly and gained a total of 10 PB’s between them. We also gained five 3rd places, two 2nd places and one 1st place. We did have two 1st places, three 2nd places and a 3rd place in the events but the times were too fast so we didn’t get any points. The swimmers did get PB’s though which was a bonus.
Tigersharks Last Chance Open Meet
Over the weekend of 26th/27th May 5 swimmers travelled to the Tigersharks Last Chance Open Meet at the Link Centre, Swindon. All the swimmers swam really well taking part in 18 races and everyone getting at least one PB. Medals were won by:
Joe McArdle - Gold in the 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle and Bronze in the 200m Frontcrawl
Abbie Moss - Gold in the 100m Butterfly
William Sexton - Bronze in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, and 400m Freestyle.
Tigersharks Closed Sprint Open Meet
On 24th June 8 swimmers attended the Tigersharks Closed Sprint Meet at the Link Centre. Everyone swam really well taking part in 33 races. The swimmers gained 19 PB’s on the day between them. Particular praise goes to Seb Shipway who swam in all 8 races, also Finola Woodcock and Jolie Cripps who swam in 6 events. Highest placings were obtained by Abbie Moss 5th in 50m Backstroke and Seb Shipway 5th in 50m Fly.
